Over the past few
years, there has been a tremendous change in how we not only process credit
card payments, but the number of ways that you can carry a credit card around.
Not only can you pay with a physical credit card, but you can pay using a
credit card online, or even use your phone has a credit card. With all of these
different methods of payment, it only makes sense that the credit card machines
that you use should be able to keep up. That being said, this isn't always the
case.
One of the primary
determining factors of whether or not you can take many of these new payment
options is what your merchant account services allow you to do. If your
merchant services don't allow you to use many of the new credit card processing
equipment options that allow you to take smartphone-based payments, then you
can't offer that service to your customers. Similarly, there are a number of
equipment options that are much smaller in size and more easily portable than
traditional credit card readers. One excellent example of this is the Android
credit card reader, which is a great option for people who need to
process credit card payments when away from a fixed location.
